Rebecca (Becca) Wong is the Assistant Director of the NYU Center on Violence and Recovery (CVR) and a Ph.D. student at NYU's Silver School of Social Work. She is a University of Michigan graduate with an MSW in Policy & Political Social Work, Program Evaluation & Applied Research, and a B.A. in Sociology, Minor in Quantitative Methods in Social Sciences. She is also trained in Restorative Justice Circle Keeping by Kay Pranis. Her background spans both the public and private sectors, focused on gender-based violence, criminal justice, and human trafficking. Previously, she has worked in the US House of Representatives, the Michigan State Senate, policy think tanks, and a technology and human rights venture capital firm. Her research experience covers sociology and social work, with a focus on sexual violence, trauma recovery, social identity, and ecological theory. Her work aims to bridge academic and policy conversations through evidence-informed advocacy. Rebecca is an Associate Research Scientist at NYU CVR and works full-time on CVR’s Office on Violence Against Women Restorative Practices Pilot Program Evaluation. This evaluation explores how community-based restorative responses to domestic violence, dating violence, sexual abuse, and stalking impact victim satisfaction and harm-doer accountability. She is currently Board Vice President at the Congressional Research Institute of Social Work and Policy, as well as a Board Member of the University of Michigan School of Social Work Alumni Board.
