Dr. Laura Sinko, PhD, MSHP, RN, CCTS-I is the Director of Research and Survivor Support at Our Wave. She is also a nursing professor and is a certified Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner with over eight years of clinical experience supporting survivors. She holds a PhD in Nursing from the University of Michigan and is a former mental health nurse and Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist. Dr. Sinko's research focuses on understanding healing and recovery after gender-based violence, with particular expertise in supporting LGBTQ+ survivors and developing trauma-informed interventions. She has published extensively on trauma recovery, with over 50 peer-reviewed publications and has been awarded multiple federal grants from agencies including the National Institutes of Health and the Office for Victims of Crime. As a practicing Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner at the Philadelphia Sexual Assault Response Center and Restorative Justice Practitioner, she provides direct care to survivors while bridging clinical practice with research. She has trained healthcare providers, coaches, and community organizations nationwide on trauma-informed care and supporting survivors. Dr. Sinko is committed to providing evidence-based, trauma-informed information that validates survivors' experiences and supports their healing journeys.
